Viorica Ioja (born February 26, 1962 in Uivar , People's Republic of Romania , as Viorica Veres ) is a former Romanian helmswoman in rowing . Viorica Ioja is of Hungarian descent, her Hungarian name is Ibolya Jozsa (-Veres).

Until 1983, the 1.55 m tall helmsman competed under her maiden name Viorica Veres, and at the 1981 World Championships she took fourth place with the four-man with helmsman . 1983 Romanian foursome with won Florica Lavric , Maria Fricioiu , Chira Apostol , Olga Homeghi and Viorica Veres the silver medal behind the boat from the GDR .

The boats from the GDR started like all the athletes from the Eastern bloc due to the Olympic boycott not with the 1984 Olympic Games , only the Romanian team went to in Los Angeles. Viorica Ioja, as she was called after her marriage, started in two boat classes. The four in the 1983 line-up won the Olympic gold medal ahead of the Canadians, while the eighth won the silver medal behind the American hosts.

The Romanian four-man rowed in the same line-up at the 1985 World Championships, behind the GDR and ahead of the Canadians, the boat won the silver medal at the 1985 World Championships . After some changes, the Romanians won the 1986 World Championships with Doina Bălan , Marioara Traşcă , Chira Apostol, Lucia Sauca and Viorica Ioja, ahead of the GDR and Canada.
