Sigrid Anders (born April 28, 1961 ) is a former rower from the German Democratic Republic . She won two gold medals and one bronze medal at world championships from 1981 to 1983.

Athletic career

Sigrid Anders from SC Berlin-Grünau won the 1978 Junior World Championships in eighth place . In the adult class, she won her first medal at the 1981 World Championships in Munich. Together with Iris Rudolph she won the two without a helmsman with 0.27 seconds ahead of Canadians Elizabeth Craig and Tricia Smith . In 1982 Anders and Rudolph moved to the GDR eight. Angelika Noack , Ute Steindorf , Sabine Portius , Carola Miseler , Steffi Götzelt , Sigrid Anders, Iris Rudolph, Karin Metze and helmsman Kirsten Wenzel took third place behind the boats from the Soviet Union and the United States at the World Championships in Lucerne . In 1983 Claudia Noack , Iris Rudolph, Sigrid Anders, Carola Miseler and taxwoman Carola Richter formed a foursome with taxwoman . At the World Championships in Duisburg , the GDR foursome won with almost three seconds ahead of the Romanians. In 1984 the rowers from the GDR missed participation in the Olympic rowing regatta because of the Olympic boycott .

At GDR championships, Sigrid Anders and Iris Rudolph took first place in the two-mans in 1981, in 1984 they were second and 1980 third.

Anders and Rudolph won four GDR championship titles in a four with a helmsman.

  • 1982 with the cast Claudia Noack, Sigrid Anders, Iris Rudolph, Carola Miseler and Sylvia Müller.

There were also three championship titles in eighth in 1981, 1982 and 1984. In 1983, Anders finished second with eighth.
