Megan Still

Megan Leanne Still (after marriage: Marcks; born October 19, 1972 in Queanbeyan ) is a former Australian rower . Together with Kate Slatter , she was 1996 Olympic champion in the two-man without a helmsman .

Career

Megan Still started rowing in 1988, in 1990 she took part in the Junior World Championships with the Australian eighth and finished fourth. In 1991 she competed in two boat classes at the World Championships in the adult class: With the four-man without a helmsman , she finished eighth, with the eighth she finished 12. The four-man with Jodie Dobson , Kate Slatter, Emy Snook and Megan Still stayed in the 1991 line-up also in the Olympic year and took sixth place in the Olympic regatta .

In 1993 the boat reached sixth place at the world championships with Slatter, Still, Gina Douglas and Courtney Johnstone . 1994 Alison Davies and Victoria Toogood moved to Slatter and Still in the foursome, who won the bronze medal behind the boats from the Netherlands and the USA at the World Championships in Indianapolis; the complete foursome was also in the Australian eighth, which finished sixth.

In the following year, the Australian eighth finished eighth at the World Championships in Tampere, Finland; Still and Slatter competed again in two boat classes, with the uncontrolled double the two won the world championship. The following year, Kate Slatter and Megan Still won an Olympic gold medal in rowing at the Olympic Games in Atlanta as the only Australians so far (as of 2012).

Megan Still retired after the 1996 Olympics. She is married and has two kids.
