Queanbeyan is a city and capital of the Local Government Area Queanbeyan City in the southeast of the Australian state of New South Wales . The city borders directly on the Australian capital Canberra and the Australian Capital Territory . The distance between the two city centers is around 10 kilometers. The border runs along the railway line. The Queanbeyan River flows through the city . In 2016 Queanbeyan had 36,348 inhabitants, the area of the city is 28.8 km².
