Coordinates: 35 ° 21 ′ S , 149 ° 14 ′ E The City of Queanbeyan was a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of New South Wales . The area was 172 km² and had about 38,000 inhabitants. In 2016 it went up in the Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council .
Queanbeyan bordered directly to the west on the Australian Capital Territory around the Australian capital Canberra . The area consists of 21 hamlets and towns: Burbong, Crestwood, De Salis, Dodsworth, Enfirona, Fernleigh Park, Gale, Greenleigh, Jerrabomberra, Karabar, Langdene, Larmer, Letchworth, Queanbeyan, Queanbeyan East, Ridgeway, Tralee, Yarrow and parts of Carwoola , Googong and Royalla. The seat of the City Council was in the Queanbeyan district .

The Queanbeyan City Council had ten members. Nine councilors and the council chairman and mayor were directly elected by the residents of the LGA. Queanbeyan was not divided into districts.
