Sabine Dähne
Sabine Dähne (born February 27, 1950 in Colditz ) is a former rower from the GDR . In 1976 she won the Olympic silver medal in a double without a helmsman .
Sabine Dähne was originally a track and field athlete and did not get into rowing until 1967. With the double foursome of the SC DHfK Leipzig she took second place in the GDR championship in 1967 and 1968, in 1970 and 1971 she won the championship title. After she had already become vice European champion in 1969 with the oar rowers in the four with helmswoman , she finally switched to the oar rowers in 1972. From 1972 to 1974 she won the GDR championship three times. In 1972 and 1973 the four-man from Leipzig was vice European champion. In 1974 women's boats competed in a world championship for the first time at the world championship in Lucerne. Sabine Dähne, Renate Schlenzig , Angelika Noack , Rosel Nitsche and tax woman Christa Karnath were the first world champions in four with tax woman.
From 1975 Sabine Dähne and Angelika Noack competed in pairs without a helmsman . The two won the 1975 and 1977 world championships, at the Olympic premiere of women's rowing in 1976 in Montreal, the two rowers were defeated by the Bulgarian boat with Sika Kelbetschewa and Stojanka Gruitschewa . For winning the silver medal, she was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze.
After her active career, the qualified sports teacher worked as a rowing trainer at SC DHfK Leipzig, and has been a physiotherapist since reunification .
