The 1.53 m tall helmsman from Spartak Pskov won her first title at the 1979 World Championships in Bled . In the line-up of Valentina Semenowa , Swetlana Semjonowa , Galina Stepanowa , Marija Fadejewa and Nina Tscheremissina, the Soviet four-man with helmswoman in front of the boats from the GDR and Romania won.

At the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow , the four was replaced. About an hour and a half later, the Soviet double foursome with Antonina Pustowit , Jelena Matijewskaja , Olga Wassiltschenko , Nadezhda Lyubimova and taxwoman Natalja Kazak took second place behind the Bulgarians, but ahead of the double foursome from the GDR. Since only the preliminary winners automatically advanced to the final, both the four-man with helmsman and the double-four had to go into the hope runs. Two days after the heats, the four-man qualified for the finals with a helmsman by winning the repechage. Fifty minutes later, the double fours took second place behind the boat from the GDR. Both boats were redeployed at one point: Jutta Lau rowed the GDR double quad for Gisela Medefindt , and Cheremissina steered the Soviet double quad instead of Kazak. On the final day, three days after the hope runs, Tscheremissina first won bronze in the four with a helmsman behind the four from the GDR and Bulgaria. Two hours later, the double quad she steered reached the destination as the second boat behind the GDR double quad.

In the following year, the Soviet four-man with a helmswoman in the line-up Olha Pywowarowa , Marina Studnewa, Swezlana Semjonowa, Raissa Doligaida and Cheremissina competed , the Soviet four-man won the title at the World Championships in Munich in front of the boats from the GDR and the United States.
