Angelika Noack (born October 20, 1952 in Angermünde ) is a former rower from the GDR . In 1980 she won the Olympic medal in a four with a helmsman .

Career

Angelika Noack was GDR junior champion in the four-a-side in 1970. The rower from SC DHfK Leipzig won the bronze medal in the foursome at the European Championships in 1971, although she was still in the second Leipzig boat at the GDR championships. In 1972 her first GDR championship and silver at the European championships followed, and she also received both medals in 1973. In 1974, women's boats competed in the world championships for the first time at the world championships in Lucerne. Sabine Dähne , Renate Schlenzig , Angelika Noack, Rosel Nitsche and tax woman Christa Karnath were the first world champions in four with tax woman.

From 1975 Sabine Dähne and Angelika Noack competed in pairs without a helmsman . The two won the 1975 and 1977 world championships, at the Olympic premiere of women's rowing in Montreal in 1976, the two rowers were defeated by the Bulgarian boat with Sika Kelbetschewa and Stojanka Gruitschewa .

In 1978 Angelika Noack returned to the four. At the rowing world championships in 1978 the GDR foursome won with Kersten Neisser , Angelika Noack, Marita Sandig , Ute Skorupski and helmsman Kirsten Wenzel . In the same line-up, the boat was GDR champion in 1979 and took second place behind the boat from the Soviet Union at the world championships. At the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow, the four-man competed in a different line-up: Ramona Kapheim , Silvia Fröhlich , Angelika Noack, Romy Saalfeld and Kirsten Wenzel won with a little more than a second ahead of the Bulgarians, the Soviet world champions took third place. She was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze in 1974 and 1976 and in 1980 in silver.

Angelika Noack is a qualified sports teacher, she worked as a rowing trainer at SC DHfK and, after the fall of the Wall , looked after the juniors at the rowing association Wiking in the SC DHfK.
