Ramona Kapheim

Ramona Kapheim (born January 8, 1958 in Strasburg , before she married Ramona Jahnke ) is a former rower from the GDR . In 1980 she won the Olympic medal in a four with a helmsman .

The student teacher started for the SC DHfK Leipzig and trained with Herta Weissig. After she had already become junior champion of the GDR in two without and in four with, she moved up to the GDR eighth place in 1979 and won the silver medal behind the boat from the Soviet Union at the World Championship in Bled. At the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow, she was in the Leipzig four, which won Olympic gold with Ramona Kapheim, Silvia Fröhlich , Angelika Noack , Romy Saalfeld and helmsman Kirsten Wenzel , just over a second ahead of the Bulgarians. For this success she was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in silver.

Ramona Kapheim later worked as a lower school teacher in Leipzig.
