Stojanka Kurbatova

Stojanka Kurbatowa (before marriage: Stojanka Gruitschewa , Bulgarian Стоянка Груйчева-Курбатова ; born March 18, 1955 in Plovdiv ) is a former Bulgarian rower . Together with Sika Kelbetschewa , she was an Olympic champion in a two-man competition in 1976 .

Career

Stojanka Gruitschewa and Sika Kelbetschewa took fourth place at the 1975 World Championships . At the Olympic premiere of women's rowing in Montreal in 1976, they won ahead of the boats from the GDR and the FRG after finishing second behind the FRG two-man in the run-up. In 1977 Gruicheva finished fifth at the World Championships in Amsterdam with the Bulgarian eighth .

After their marriage, Stojanka Kurbatova took part in the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow with the meanwhile also married Sika Barbulova . In total, only six boats competed in two without a helmsman, five of which were admitted to the final. The two from the GDR won ahead of the Polish women, the two Bulgarians won the bronze medal four years after their Olympic victory.

The 1.74 m tall Stojanka Kurbatowa rowed for Trakia Plovdiv .
