Jelena Gennadjewna Matijewskaja , from 1982 Jelena Gennadjewna Bratiko ( Russian Елена Геннадьевна Матиевская-Братишко ; born March 8, 1961 in Minsk ) is a former Soviet rower .

Athletic career

The 1.68 m tall Jelena Matijewskaja from Dynamo Leningrad took second place in the singles at the Junior World Championships in 1979 . At the 1980 Olympic Games , she competed with Antonina Pustowit , Olga Wassiltschenko , Nadezhda Lyubimowa and helmsman Nina Tscheremissina in the double fours and won the silver medal behind the boat from the GDR.

As Jelena Bratischko she won in 1982 at the World Championships in Lucerne together with Antonina Machina in the double sculls the world title in front of the two from the GDR and the Canadians. In 1983 in Duisburg the double scull from the GDR won with Martina Schröter and Jutta Schenk ahead of Jelena Bratiko and Antonina Machina. The boats from the Eastern Bloc could not take part in the Olympic Summer Games in 1984 because of the Olympic boycott. After her marriage, Antonina Machina rowed as Antonina Dumcheva from 1985. At the World Championships in Hazewinkel Antonina Dumtschewa, formed Natalia Grigorieva , Jelena Chlopzewa and Jelena Bratischko a quadruple sculls , who won the silver medal behind the boat from the GDR.
