The CSKA Sofia rower took fifth place with the Bulgarian double foursome at the European Championships in 1971 . In 1973 she competed with Werka Alexiewa in a double scull and reached fourth place. Before the world championships in 1975 Sdrawka Jordanowa switched to Ozetowa in the double scull , the two won the bronze medal behind the boats from the USSR and from the GDR.

In 1976 rowing competitions for women were held for the first time at the Olympic Games in Montreal . The Soviet double sculls, which had been newly put together compared to the previous year, won the first run ahead of the vice world champions from the GDR. In the second run, Stanka Georgijewa and Ozetowa won ahead of the Dutch women. In the final, Jordanowa and Ozetowa rowed again in the Bulgarian two-man, who also won the gold medal in front of the boats from the GDR and the USSR.

At the 1977 World Championships , a newly assembled two-man from the GDR won ahead of Jordanova and Ozetowa, who won the title in 1978 ahead of the Soviet bronze medalists of 1976. After the GDR had not won a medal in the double scull in 1978, a new duo joined again in 1979 and rowed the title ahead of the Bulgarians. At the end of their careers, Jordanova and Ozetova finished fourth at the Olympic Games in Moscow .

Ozetowa completed her architecture studies in 1976 with the design of a department store. From 1981 Swetla Ozetowa was a member of the IOC's first athletes commission .
