European Rowing Championships 1971

The New Zealand eight is in the lead

The 1971 European Rowing Championships were held on Lake Bagsværd near Copenhagen . The finals of the races in twelve boat classes took place in August 1971. The most successful rowing team was sent by the GDR , winning five gold and silver medals as well as one bronze medal.

As there were no annual rowing world championships at the beginning of the 1970s , numerous non-European teams also took part in the European championships. In the one, the Argentine Alberto Demiddi won the title, while in the men's eighth New Zealand was European champion.

Results

The medal winners from the A finals are listed here. These were manned by six boats, which had to qualify for the finals through preliminary runs, hope runs and semi-finals. The length of the course was 2000 meters in all men's runs and 1000 meters in all women's runs.
