Wolfgang Plottke

Wolfgang Plottke (born July 31, 1948 in Klein Lukow ) is a former German rower who won the Olympic bronze medal in the four-man category in 1972 .

The rower from the Marl rowing club was second with Peter Funnekötter at the German championships in two-man without a helmsman in 1969 . In 1970 the two rowers formed a foursome with Joachim Ehrig and Claus Schneggenburger . At the World Championships in St. Catherines, Canada, this four-man crossed the finish line behind the boat from SC Einheit Dresden and won the silver medal. In 1971 Franz Held got on board for Schneggenburger. In the line-up of Plottke, Held, Funnekötter, Ehrig, the boat took third place at the European Championships in Copenhagen behind the Dresden four and the boat from Norway. At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, the West German four-man rode in the same line-up as last year and again took third place, with the Dresden four-man winning ahead of the boat from New Zealand. In 1973 Funnekötter and Plottke won the German championship title with the eighth of the RK at Baldeneysee Essen .

On September 11, 1972, he was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf for his sporting achievements .
