Dieter Grahn (* 20th March 1944 in Zobten ) is a former GDR - rowers and coaches and from 2000 to March 2009, coach of the German men's national team.

Grahn began rowing in the club BSG Einheit Meißen and was later active for the SC Einheit Dresden . In the 1960s and 1970s he was twice Olympic champion, world and European champion in the four-man without helmsman in the GDR. From 1980 Grahn celebrated successes as a trainer of various belt boats of the GDR team with victories at world championships and Olympic Games .

Since reunification , Grahn has worked as a junior coach at the Dortmund Federal Training Center . During this time he looked after numerous successful teams at world championships and Olympic teams. The U23 eighth under his care won u. a. 1997 and 2000 the world championship title in this age group. After the Germany eight had missed the qualification for the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000 and also disappointed other boat classes, Dieter Grahn became the coach of the men's belt national team. Since then the team has been able to achieve increasing successes, including a. The German four without a helmsman became world champion in 2002 and the Germany eight in 2006. In 2008 he was relieved of responsibility for the Germany eight after its moderate performance in the pre-Olympic rowing World Cups , but he remained the discipline trainer for the men's belt area. A little later he withdrew completely from the preparation for the 2008 Olympic Games.
