Siegfried Brietzke (born June 12, 1952 in Rostock ) is a former German rower . The Rostock rower achieved an outstanding performance: he won a gold medal at three consecutive Olympic Games, once in a two-man and twice in a four-man without a helmsman.

Stations

Brietzke came to rowing in 1967 after a television announcement and three years later (1970) he was together with Wolfgang Mager and helmsman Werner Lehmann junior world champion in two with helmsman . At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, he won gold in two without a helmsman. In 1974 he became a student at the German University of Physical Culture (DHfK). In 1974, 1975, 1977 and 1979 he became world champion in the four without a helmsman. In 1978 he became vice world champion in this discipline. At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, he won gold in the four-man without a helmsman. At the following Olympic Games in Moscow in 1980, he again won gold in the foursome and then ended his active career. Until 1988 he worked as a trainer at SC DHfK Leipzig. From 1981 to 1990 he was a member of the Olympic Committee of the GDR and until 1993 a member of the BRD-NOK. After reunification , he initially worked as a right of way in Hamburg and Kassel, and later in Schwerin.

Brietzke received the GDR Patriotic Order of Merit in gold in 1976 and is the bearer of the gold medal of the GDR Patriotic Order of Merit . As it turned out after the fall of the Wall , many of his sporting achievements were achieved with doping . He was recruited by the Stasi and listed as IMS "Charlie". In contrast to the IM (unofficial employee), as IMS, he was additionally entrusted with the security of a social area or object, namely the control of competitive athletes with different thinking.
