Spencer Turrin

Spencer Turrin (born August 29, 1991 in Maitland ) is an Australian rower .

Athletic career

Spencer Turrin started rowing in 2005. He finished seventh with the Australian eighth at the 2011 U23 World Championships , and in 2012 he won the bronze medal with eighth. In the adult class he started in 2013 in a four-man car without a helmsman . In 2013 the Australian four-man won the first two World Cup regattas and finished second behind the US four-man in the third race. At the World Championships , the Dutch four won ahead of the Australians with William Lockwood , Alexander Lloyd , Spencer Turrin and Joshua Dunkley-Smith ; the US foursome received the bronze medal. At the 2014 World Championships , the British four-man won ahead of the US boat, followed by Fergus Pragnell , Dunkley-Smith, Turrin and Lloyd the bronze medal. In 2015 the Italian four-man won the title at the World Championships ahead of William Lockwood, Joshua Dunkley-Smith, Spencer Turrin and Alexander Hill . At the 2016 Olympic Games , Turrin and Alexander Lloyd competed in twos without a helmsman and took sixth place.

In the post-Olympic season 2017, Turrin rowed successfully in four and eight at the Rowing World Cup . At the World Championships in Florida he went to the start with a four-without with Joshua Hicks , Jack Hargreaves and Alexander Hill and won the World Cup gold medal. In 2018, the Australian four-man won the same line-up as in the previous year at the World Cup regattas in Linz and Lucerne and also at the World Championships in Plovdiv .
