Alexander Viktorovich Kulagin ( Russian Александр Викторович Кулагин ; born June 29, 1954 ) is a former Soviet rower .

Kulagin was Junior World Champion in 1971 with the Soviet eight , in 1972 he received the bronze medal with the eight. The rower from Burewestnik Moscow won his first international medal in the adult class at the 1977 World Championships , when he and Vitaly Jelissejew won in two without a helmsman . In 1980, Kulagin and Jelissejew, together with Alexei Kamkin and Valeri Dolinin, formed a new Soviet four-man without a helmsman . At the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow , these four rowers received the silver medal behind the GDR boat. The following year, the Soviet four-man in the same line-up won the 1981 World Championships in Munich, ahead of the Swiss and the boat from the GDR. In 1982 in Lucerne, the Swiss took revenge in front of a home crowd, they won against the Soviet foursome. In 1983 Kulagin formed a new foursome with the brothers Nikolai and Juri Pimenow and Žoržs Tikmers , who won the silver medal behind the German foursome at the 1983 World Championships .
