Günther Zumkeller is a former German rower .

Career

Günther Zumkeller comes from the Lake Constance area. He became a member of the Neptun rowing club from Constance. His discipline within the rowing sport was the two without a helmsman . With his long-term partner Dieter Bender he became German champion in 1961, 1962 and 1963 . At the same time as the national competitions, he and his boat with Bender were also used successfully internationally. He won a gold medal at the 1961 European Championships in Prague and a silver medal at the 1963 European Championships in Copenhagen.

The highlight of his career was winning a gold medal at the World Championships in Lucerne in 1962 .

On March 31, 1962, he and his partner Dieter Bender were awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf for their athletic achievements .

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the RV Neptun in 1985, he was made an honorary member as one of nine members of the association.
