Dieter Eßfeld (* 1950 in Düsseldorf ) is a German sports doctor , sports scientist and university professor .

Life

In 1968 Eßfeld passed his Abitur in Rheydt , followed by a medical degree, which he completed in Würzburg and Cologne , as well as a subsequent doctoral degree in sports science, which he completed in 1978 at the German Sport University Cologne (DSHS) with his doctoral thesis (subject: “The Adjustment behavior of the end-expiratory CO2 partial pressure [CO partial pressure] in the event of sudden changes in light physical exertion ”). In 1990 he completed his habilitation at the DSHS, in 1991 Eßfeld's second dissertation entitled “On the theory of human respiratory regulation” was accepted at the University of Cologne .

From 1992 Eßfeld was employed in the rank of Academic Senior Councilor at the Physiological Institute of the Sport University, since 1978 he was a member of the State Examination Office and since 1983 the Department Council II. Eßfeld, who was appointed adjunct professor at the DSHS, carried out research in the fields of walking and running ergometry, the effects of weightlessness and gravity on the body, sport in childhood and retirement, the influence of fluid intake on endurance performance, blood pressure and heart rate , Breathing, nutritional physiology and oxygen uptake.

In 2016, Eßfeld resigned from university after he was released. In the same year he took over the office of managing director of Dr. Lück Verwaltungsgesellschaft mbH and, in 2017, Precursor GmbH for the distribution of the Precursor beverage concentrate, which he developed together with Stephan Lück, which is offered as a weight loss aid.
