Riccardo Dei Rossi

Riccardo Dei Rossi (born February 6, 1969 in Trieste ) is a former Italian rower who won an Olympic medal and four world championship medals.

Athletic career

The 1.91 m tall Riccardo Dei Rossi finished fifth at the Junior World Championships in 1986 and 1987 with the double foursome . At the U23 World Championships in 1988 he won the silver medal with the double scull, followed by sixth place in the double scull in 1989 . In 1990 Dei Rossi won the U23 World Championships with eighth , at the 1990 World Championships without age limit Dei Rossi took seventh place with eighth, and in 1991 eighth took ninth place. At the 1992 Olympic regatta , the Italian four-man rowed without a helmsman with Riccardo Dei Rossi, Carmine La Mura , Rocco Pecoraro and Luca Sartori to eighth place.

At the World Championships in 1993 Riccardo Dei Rossi, Carmine La Mura, Raffaello Leonardo and Valter Molea took seventh place in the four without a helmsman. In 1994 Carlo Mornati came on board as a batsman for La Mura and at the 1994 World Championships the Italian four-man won the title ahead of the French and the British. In 1995 in Tampere , the four Italians defended the title from the British and the Poles. At the 1996 Olympic Games, the Australians won ahead of the French and the British, the four Italians finished sixth.

At the 1997 World Championships , Valter Molea, Riccardo Dei Rossi, Raffaello Leonardo and Marco Penna took fifth place. 1998 moved Lorenzo Carboncini and Carlo Mornati for Leonardo and Penna in the foursome, who won the bronze medal at the world championships behind the British and French. In 1999 in St. Catharines the British won again, the Italians won the bronze medal behind the Australians. At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, the four Italians won the silver medal behind the British but ahead of the Australians.
