Jean-Baptiste Macquet
Jean-Baptiste Macquet (born July 2, 1983 in Dieppe ) is a French rower and two-time world champion.
Career
Macquet was the 2001 junior world champion in the four without a helmsman . In 2002 he won a bronze medal in a four-man with helmsman at the U23 World Championships , followed by silver in eighth in 2003 . At the rowing world championships in 2003 , he took fourth place in the adult class with the four-man with helmsman. In the 2004 Olympic season, Macquet rowed eighth in France, with which he finished sixth in the Olympic regatta .
In 2005 Macquet switched from belt boats to sculling boats and competed first with Ronan Mathieu and then with Jonathan Coeffic in double sculls ; seventh place at the 2005 World Rowing Championships was the best result for Macquet and Coeffic. In 2006 Macquet formed a new double scull with 2004 Olympic champion Adrien Hardy , who won the World Cup in Poznan and came third in Munich and Lucerne. At the rowing world championships in Eton in 2006 Macquet and Hardy won ahead of the Slovenes Luka Špik and Iztok Čop . In 2007 the two French took fourth, fifth and sixth place in the World Cup , and at the World Championships in Munich they won silver behind the two Slovenes. In 2008, the World Cup results were similar to those of the previous year, at the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 Macquet and Hardy took fifth place. For the European Rowing Championships in 2008 , Hardy and Macquet went into the French eighth, with which they won the title.
In 2009 Hardy and Macquet moved to a sixth place at the World Cup in Banyoles in the quadruple scull with which they finished fifth at the 2009 World Rowing Championships . At the European Rowing Championships in 2009 , the two received the bronze medal with the French eighth. In 2010 Macquet switched back to the oarring boats, the French four-man without a helmsman competed with Macquet on the beat, Germain Chardin , Julien Desprès and Dorian Mortelette . After a third place at the World Cup in Lucerne and a fifth place at the 2010 European Rowing Championships , the French four-man surprisingly won the 2010 World Rowing Championships . In the following year, the French four-man without reached only the C-final at the 2011 World Rowing Championships and finished 13th in the final score.
