Stephan Krüger (born November 29, 1988 in Rostock ) is a German scull rower .

Stephan Krüger is 1.88 m tall and starts for the Olympic Rowing Club Rostock from 1956 , he trains with Ulf Krämer. In 2005 Krüger won the silver medal in the junior category. At the Junior World Championships in 2006 he won the bronze medal in the double scull . In 2007 he was U23 world champion in four-four. In 2008 he was at the German Championship in the third one behind Marcel Hacker and René Bertram . The championships also served as internal Olympic qualifications. While Hacker was nominated for the Olympic singles competition, Bertram and Krüger took part in the 2008 Olympic Games together with Christian Schreiber and Hans Gruhne in double fours . At the 2009 World Rowing Championships , Krüger competed with Eric Knittel in a double scull and won the world championship. Two years later, Krüger and Hans Gruhne won the silver medal at the 2011 World Championships , having previously won the German championships with Knittel. After a ninth place with Knittel at the 2012 Olympic Games , the double scull finished fourth at the European Championships and the 2013 World Championships . In 2014 Krüger and Hans Gruhne won the bronze medal at the European championships and finished fifth at the world championships . After Krüger had won the German Championships in 2015 in singles before Marcel Hacker, the two tried each other in double sculls. They won the World Cup opener in Bled and then also won the European Championships in Poznan . The following year they took second place at the European Championships in Brandenburg an der Havel. Hacker and Krüger finished eighth at the 2016 Olympic Games .

In 2018 he finished second behind Tim Ole Naske at the German championships . At the international regattas he started as a batsman in the double foursome. Together with Ruben Steinhardt, Philipp-André Syring and Hans Gruhne , he achieved second, third and fourth place in each of the three World Cup races. At the 2018 World Rowing Championships , the double scull came eighth. After Krüger finished second at the German championships in 2019, as in the previous year, he rowed in double sculls with Tim Ole Naske for the rest of the season. At the International Wedau Regatta they prevailed against Timo Piontek and Lars Hartig in the DRV-internal duel . At the 2019 European Championships, Naske and Krüger missed the A-final. But then they were able to win the B final. In the second and third World Cup races, both achieved a third and a fifth place. At the World Championships , they qualified the German men's double scull for the 2020 Olympic Games with a tenth place.
