Udo Hild

Udo Georg Hild (born March 18, 1943 in Mainz ) is a former German rower who won three German championship titles.

Career

Udo Hild won the German rowing championships in 1968 in a double scull together with Wolfgang Glock . At the Olympic Games in Mexico City , the two reached the final and came in sixth. In 1969, Wolfgang Glock won the German championships in a single, ahead of Udo Hild and Jochen Meißner . Udo Hild won in the double scull together with Klaus Opitz , his club mate at the Mainz rowing society in 1898 . At the European Championships , the two took fourth place.

In 1970 Opitz and Hild only took second place in the German championships, Hild won in the single ahead of Glock and Meißner. At the 1970 World Championships , Hild and Glock started in double sculls and took fifth place. In 1971, Peter Berger won ahead of Hild and Meißner at the German championships . At the European Championships , Hild reached the finish line in fourth place. Before the 1972 season, Udo Hild moved from Mainz to Bingen and now started for the Binger Rowing Society in 1911 . At the German championships in 1972, Glock won again in a single, ahead of Hild and Meißner. Nevertheless, Hild started in a single at the Olympic Games in Munich , while Glock was not used as a substitute. Hild finished fourth in the final, more than six seconds behind bronze.
