Liu Zhiyu

Liu Zhiyu ( Chinese  刘治宇 ; born January 5, 1993 ) is a Chinese rower .

The Chinese double scull with Ma Jian , Liu Zhiyu, Liu Dang and Zhang Quan took fourth place at the 2014 World Championships in Amsterdam . The following year, the Chinese only reached the C-final at the 2015 World Championships and thus also missed the direct Olympic qualification for 2016. In the last qualifying regatta in Lucerne in 2016, the Chinese double foursome took fifth place, only the two best boats qualified for the Olympic Regatta; the later disqualification of the Russian double foursome changed nothing for the Chinese.

In 2017, the Chinese quadruple finished 13th at the World Championships in Sarasota . In 2018, Liu Zhiyu competed in the World Cup in a four without a helmsman and in an eighth , he did not take part in the World Championships. In 2019 Liu Zhiyu and Zhang Liang competed in double sculls and won the World Cup opener in Plovdiv. After a seventh and a twelfth place in the two other World Cup regattas, the Chinese won the title at the World Championships in Linz-Ottensheim .
