Christopher Harris

Christopher "Chris" Harris (born October 19, 1985 in Durban , South Africa ) is a New Zealand rower .

Harris started rowing in 2003. In 2007 he won the silver medal in the four without a helmsman at the U23 World Championships . 2010 Harris first appeared in the Rowing World Cup . At the 2010 World Championships , which took place at home on Lake Karapiro , he finished fifth with the New Zealand eighth . A year later he rowed to eighth place in the four without a helmsman at the World Championships in Bled . At the 2012 Olympics in London , Harris reached eleventh place with the New Zealand foursome.

In 2014 Harris returned to the regatta courses as a scull rower , and at the World Championships in Amsterdam he took twelfth place with a double foursome. In 2015 Harris formed a double scull with Robert Manson , behind the boats from Croatia and Lithuania the two won the bronze medal at the world championships on Lac d'Aiguebelette . At the 2016 Olympics , Harris and Manson finished eleventh.

Harris partner Manson then switched to the one after the New Zealand Olympic champion Mahé Drysdale had ended his career. It moved John Storey to Harris in the double sculls. The duo won two World Cup regattas in 2017 and finally the gold medal at the World Championships in Florida. In 2018, the two finished fourth in the World Cup twice. At the World Championships in Plovdiv they won bronze behind the French and the Swiss.
