Open Source Robotics Foundation
The Open Source Robotics Foundation (OSRF) is a non-profit organization based in California . Your task is to support the development, distribution and release of open source software for research, further education and product development in the field of robotics . It was started by Willow Garage members Brian Gerkey, Helen Greiner, Ryan Gariepy, Wolfram Burgard and Sam Park. The founding was announced on April 16, 2012 on the company's homepage.
Projects
Gazebo
Gazebo is a 3D robot simulator. It offers the possibility to precisely and efficiently simulate the use of robots , objects and sensors , both indoors and outside. Gazebo generates physically plausible interaction between objects and realistic sensor feedback. The software is freely available and supported by a community.
ROS
The Robot Operating System (ROS) is a flexible framework for writing robot software. It is a collection of tools , libraries and conventions designed to simplify the development of complex and robust behavior of robots in different environments.
RFT
In cooperation with BIT Systems (BITS), the OSRF is looking for new technologies in the field of robotics . RFT offers the opportunity to send in your own ideas, these are verified and, if the project proposal meets all requirements, implemented.
