Robert Manson

Robert "Robbie" Manson (born October 11, 1989 in Hamilton ) is a New Zealand rower .

Manson began rowing in 2006. At the U23 World Championships in 2009 he won the double scull with Joseph Sullivan , and the following year he finished fifth with his brother Karl Manson . At the 2010 World Championships , which took place at home on Lake Karapiro , Joseph Sullivan won a double scull with Nathan Cohen . The New Zealand double foursome with John Storey , Matthew Trott , Robert Manson and Nathan Twaddle took seventh place. Two years later, John Storey, Michael Arms , Matthew Trott and Robert Manson also finished seventh in the 2012 Olympics .

In 2013, Michael Arms and Robert Manson won a double scull at all three regattas in the Rowing World Cup , at the World Championships in Chungju they only finished sixth. In 2014 Robert Manson rowed with his brother in double sculls, and the two finished eighth at the World Championships in Amsterdam . In 2015, Christopher Harris formed the new double scull with Robert Manson, behind the boats from Croatia and Lithuania the two won the bronze medal at the world championships on Lac d'Aiguebelette . At the 2016 Olympics , Harris and Manson finished eleventh.

In 2017 he took first place in the men's singles at the Rowing World Cup . In the second valuation regatta of the World Cup in Poznan , he improved the world best time in the men's singles to 6: 30.74 minutes.

In 2014, Manson came out as gay.
