Nils Jakob Hoff

Nils Jakob Hoff (born February 5, 1985 in Bergen ) is a Norwegian rower . In 2013 he was world champion in double sculls .

Career

The 1.98 m tall rower from Fana Roklub took part in the Junior World Championships in 2002 in a double scull and in 2003 in a double without a helmsman , but did not reach the A final in either year. In 2006 he finished sixth in the one at the U23 World Championships . At the 2007 World Championships he started with Helge Tønnessen in double sculls and came in 20th place. In 2009 Hoff rowed in the World Cup in single, at the World Championships he finished 13th in double sculls with Truls Albert . In 2010 he competed with Kjetil Borch , the two achieved fourth place at the world championships , in 2011 they finished eighth. In 2012, Hoff and Borch won the last pre-Olympic World Cup regatta in Munich. At the 2012 Olympic Games , Hoff and Borch won the B final and finished seventh. At the end of the 2012 season, the Croatian double scull won the European Championships ahead of the Italians, Hoff and Borch received the bronze medal.

At the beginning of June 2013, the European championships of the post-Olympic year took place in Seville , the Italians won the double sculls ahead of the Lithuanians, and Hoff and Borch again received bronze. At the 2013 World Championships in Chungju , Hoff and Borch won ahead of the Lithuanians and the Italians. After finishing fourth at the 2014 European Championships , the two Norwegians only achieved tenth place at the 2014 World Championships . In 2015, Hoff and Borch took fourth place at the European Championships , as in the previous year , with twelfth place at the World Championships , the two missed the opportunity to qualify for the Olympic Games directly in 2016. After Kjetil Borch and Olaf Tufte were still admitted to the Olympic Games in Lucerne , Nils Jakob Hoff took over the starting authorization in the one from Olaf Tufte. At the 2016 Olympic Games , Hoff reached eleventh place.
