Volker Grabow

Volker Grabow (born September 27, 1956 in Essen ) is a German rowing world champion and sports educator.

Life

He grew up in Witten , where he graduated from high school in 1975. Since 1989 he has been a research assistant at the Institute for Sport and Sport Science at the Technical University of Dortmund . He also works in the training science supervision of the German national rowing team.

Sporting successes

Volker Grabow won 13 German championship titles in two, four and eight. His greatest successes are two world championship titles: 1983 and 1985 in a four without a helmsman together with Norbert Keßlau , Jörg Puttlitz and Guido Grabow ; in the same line-up they were fourth at the 1984 Olympic Games and second at the 1986 World Cup. At the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul / South Korea , he won a bronze medal in a four-man game.

He was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf for his sporting success .
