The rowing club Witten e. V. is a sports club from the city of Witten . It was founded in 1892, is a member of the German Rowing Association and, according to its own information, has around 440 members who practice both competitive and popular sports.

In the history of the club, club members have won national and international titles several times. The brothers Volker and Guido Grabow were able to win gold medals in the four without a helmsman at the World Rowing Championships in 1983 and 1985 and a bronze medal in the same boat class at the 1988 Olympic rowing regatta . They started each in a racing community with Dortmund's Norbert Keßlau and Jörg Puttlitz , the team was referred to as the "Ruhr Quad". In the field of lightweights , Stefan Locher and Andreas Bech won further world championship titles in 1996 and 1998.

The club's own boathouse was built in 1926. The local rowing area is the Ruhr , which can be reached from the boathouse (upstream, standard training route) via the Mühlengraben, or directly below the boathouse (downstream) for hiking trips.
