Joshua Dunkley-Smith

Joshua Dunkley-Smith (born June 28, 1989 in Melbourne ) is an Australian rower who was second in the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games with the four-man without a helmsman .

Athletic career

The son of two-time Olympian in sailing, Addy Bucek , began rowing in 2006. In 2009 he finished fourth with his eighth place at the U23 World Championships , and at the world championships without age restrictions he rowed seventh place with his eighth place. In 2010 Joshua Dunkley-Smith won the World Cup regatta in Munich with the four-man without a helmsman . At the U23 World Championships he won the bronze medal with the four. In the adult class, he won bronze at the 2010 World Championships with eighth place . In 2011, Dunkley-Smith received another bronze medal at the 2011 World Championships with the foursome in the line-up of Samuel Loch , Drew Ginn , Nicholas Purnell and Joshua Dunkley-Smith . In the 2012 Olympics , the British foursome won, behind received William Lockwood , James Chapman , Drew Ginn and Joshua Dunkley-Smith the silver medal.

In 2013 the Australian four-man won the first two World Cup regattas and finished second behind the US four-man in the third race. At the World Championships , the Dutch four won ahead of the Australians with William Lockwood, Alexander Lloyd , Spencer Turrin and Joshua Dunkley-Smith; the US foursome received the bronze medal. At the 2014 World Championships , the British four-man won ahead of the US boat, followed by Fergus Pragnell , Dunkley-Smith, Turrin and Lloyd the bronze medal. In 2015 the Italian four-man won the title at the World Championships ahead of William Lockwood, Joshua Dunkley-Smith, Spencer Turrin and Alexander Hill . In 2016 Joshua Booth moved into the foursome for Turrin, who won the silver medal at the 2016 Olympic Games behind the British but ahead of the Italians .

Dunkley-Smith also holds the world best time in 2000 m ergometer rowing with 5: 35.8 minutes.
