Samuel Loch (born June 26, 1983 in Sydney ) is a former Australian rower . He won two bronze medals at world championships in 2010 and 2011.

Athletic career

Loch started rowing in 1998. In 2007 he competed in the Rowing World Cup for the first time , but never reached the A final with the four-man without a helmsman in the World Cup or at the 2007 World Championships . At the start of the 2008 World Cup season, he won with the Australian eighth in Munich. At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, the Australian eighth finished sixth.

In 2010, Loch started in the World Cup first in a foursome and then in an eighth. At the World Championships in New Zealand, he won the bronze medal with eighth place. In 2011 he rowed in a foursome at the World Championships in Bled with Drew Ginn , Nicholas Purnell and Joshua Dunkley-Smith . The crew won the bronze medal behind the British and the Greeks. In 2012 Purnell finished sixth at the Olympic Games in London with the Australian eighth .

Samuel Loch rowed for the Sydney University Rowing Club .
