Arthur Ayrault (actually Arthur DeLancey Ayrault junior , called "Dan Ayrault", born January 21, 1935 in Long Beach , California , † February 24, 1990 in Seattle , Washington ) was an American rower and two-time Olympic champion .

He graduated from Stanford University in 1956 , where he also began rowing. Together with Conn Findlay from the University of California, Berkeley and helmsman Kurt Seiffert , he took part in the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne and won the gold medal. Two years later, as a member of Washington AC, he won the national two-man championship.

At the Summer Olympics in Rome , he won his second gold medal as a member of the Lake Washington RC in the four without a helmsman.

Ayrault later received a Masters in Education from Harvard University and began teaching at the Lakeside School in Seattle . In 1969 he became rector there, a position he held until his death in 1990.
