Edward Jennings

Edward "Ed" Francis Jennings (born April 9, 1898 in Philadelphia , † February 9, 1975 in San Diego ) was an American rower .

With a height of 1.57 m and a competition weight of 44 kg Jennings had good qualifications for the position of helmsman in rowing.

At the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris, he drove the two-man helmsman of the Pennsylvania Barge Club with Leon Butler and Harold Wilson . Out of five boats, only the Belgian two was eliminated in the preliminary run, who had finished third behind the French and the Americans in the first preliminary run. From the second heat, the Swiss and the Italians qualified both boats. In the final, the Swiss won just ahead of the Italians. The Americans received the bronze medal ahead of the French, who had led for a long time, but fell back to fourth and last place in the end.

In 1932 the two-man with helmsman of the Pennsylvania Barge Club with Joseph Schauers , Charles Kieffer and helmsman Jennings qualified for the 1932 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Since only four boats had reported, there were no preliminary runs. The US boat won six seconds ahead of the Poles, ten seconds behind the French won the bronze medal, ahead of the Brazilians who were beaten.
