Giovanni Scatturin
Giovanni Scatturin (born May 30, 1893 in Venice , † October 11, 1951 in Rosario , Argentina ) was an Italian rower and Olympic champion .
Scatturin started at the Olympic Games in Antwerp in 1920 with Ercole Olgeni and helmsman Guido De Filip in a pair. Of four boats entered, three reached the final, where the Italians won ahead of the French and the Swiss. At the European Championships in 1923 Scatturin rowed together with Giuseppe Tasson and helmsman Gino Sopracordevole , the three Italians took second place behind the Swiss Édouard Candeveau , Alfred Felber and Émile Lachapelle . The following year, Ercole Olgeni, now 40, returned to the two. Olgeni, Scatturin and helmsman Sopracordevole took third place behind the boats from the Netherlands and Switzerland at the European Championships in 1924 . At the Olympic Games in Paris in 1924, the Swiss European champions of 1922 and 1923 rowed who had not competed at the European Championships. The Swiss boat won with a tenth of a second ahead of the Italians.
