Klaus-Dieter Neubert

Klaus-Dieter Neubert (born November 22, 1949 in Oberwiesenthal ) is a former rower from the GDR . In 1972 Neubert became Olympic champion in two with helmsman .

Neubert won in 1967 as helmsman of the rowing eight from TSC Berlin his first East German championship title. In 1968 he won the title in two with Steuermann together with Wolfgang Gunkel and Helmut Wollmann . At the 1968 Olympic Games , the two-man narrowly missed the bronze medal on the Olympic regatta course in Xochimilco , 0.15 seconds behind the third-placed Danish crew.

From 1970 Gunkel and Neubert started for SC Berlin-Grünau . Together with Jörg Lucke , he won the GDR championships in 1971 and the European rowing championships in 1971 . At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, the boat won by over two seconds over the Czechoslovak boat. In 1973 and 1974 Gunkel, Lucke and Neubert each won the GDR championship and silver at the 1973 European championships and the 1974 world championships .
