Kent Mitchell

Henry Kent Mitchell II (born March 29, 1939 in Albany ) is a former American helmsman in rowing .

Kent Mitchell, 1.73 m tall, was the helmsman of the Stanford University rowing team . At the 1960 Olympic Games , he drove the two with Richard Draeger and Conn Findlay to the bronze medal behind the boats from Germany and the Soviet Union. In 1961 and 1962 he won the American Rowing Championships. In 1964, Mitchell was about to graduate from the University of California, Berkeley Law School . As a helmsman, he was still active for Stanford and competed with Edward Ferry and Conn Findlay at the 1964 Olympic Games . The American two won the gold medal in front of the boats from France and the Netherlands. After graduating, Mitchell worked for many years as a lawyer with his own company.

Kent Mitchell was the third US helmsman, after Louis Abell and Edward Jennings , to win a medal in two Olympic Games. Robert Zimonyi also won two medals, the first one for Hungary.
