Edward Ferry

Edward "Ed" Payson Ferry (born June 18, 1941 in Seattle ) is a former American rower .

The 1.93 m tall Ferry rowed in two with a helmsman together with Conn Findlay , who had trained him as a freshman. The two won the national championships in 1961, 1962 and 1964 with various helmsmen. In 1963 Ferry, Findlay and helmsman Charles Bitzer won the Pan-American Games in São Paulo. In 1964 Edward Ferry and Conn Findlay competed with helmsman Kent Mitchell at the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo. The American two won the gold medal in front of the boats from France and the Netherlands.

Edward Ferry attended Stanford University , at the time of his Olympic victory he was in the United States Navy . After his time in the Navy, he received his MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania . He later hosted international camping trips in the 1970s and 1980s. Then he worked in the real estate industry.
