Finn Pedersen

Finn Pedersen (born July 30, 1925 in Roskilde ; † January 14, 2012 ) was a Danish rower who was Olympic champion in two-man with helmsman in 1948 .

At the first European championships after the Second World War in Lucerne in 1947, Hungarians Antal Szendey and Béla Zsitnik with helmsman Szaniszlo Latinovits won in two with helmsman, ahead of Italians Giovanni Steffè and Aldo Tarlao with helmsman Alvino Grio . Finn Pedersen, Tage Henriksen and their helmsman Carl-Ebbe Andersen received the bronze medal.

A year later, at the Olympic Games in London in 1948 , the Hungarians and the Italians competed with a new helmsman. The three boats met in the second run, the Italians won ahead of the Danes and Hungarians. After the Danes and Hungarians their repechage had won, they won in their semi-finals, the Italians won the third semi-final. In the final, a very clear race developed, the Danes won with a lead of almost twelve seconds over the Italians, the Hungarians crossed the finish line another thirteen seconds later.

At the European Championships in Copenhagen in 1953 , Pedersen and Kjeld Østrøm competed in two without a helmsman and won the bronze medal behind the boats from the Soviet Union and Belgium. In 1954 in Amsterdam Pedersen and Østrøm won the European title ahead of the Soviet two. At the Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956, the two Danes were eliminated in the semi-finals.
