Harald Jahresling (born June 20, 1954 in Burg ) is a former rower from the GDR. In 1976 and 1980 the yearling was Olympic champion in two with helmsman .

The rower from SC Magdeburg was second in the two-man without helmsman at the Spartakiade in 1972 . In the fall of 1975 he formed a pair with a helmsman together with Friedrich-Wilhelm Ulrich and helmsman Georg Spohr . This boat was able to prevail in the Olympic qualification in 1976 against the reigning Olympic and world champions Wolfgang Gunkel and Jörg Lucke . At the 1976 Olympic Games , Jahresling, Ulrich and Spohr were clearly superior and won with almost three seconds ahead of the Soviet boat.

At the 1977 World Cup, the boat finished second behind the Bulgarian boat. In 1978 Jahrlich and Ulrich sat in the GDR eighth and became world champions in this boat. At the 1980 Olympic Games , Jahresling, Ulrich and Spohr competed again in pairs with a helmsman. They won just ahead of the Soviet boat.

In 1976 and 1980 he was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in silver for his Olympic victories. He also received this medal in 1984.

After 1980 he ended his career and became a trainer at SC Magdeburg. He studied at the German University for Physical Culture in Leipzig , where he submitted his diploma thesis in 1987 (title: "Longitudinal analysis 1973 - 1984 essential biomechanical parameters of high-performance athletes of the German Rowing Association of the GDR"). After the fall of the Berlin Wall , yearlings moved to Australia, where he became director of the rowing association. His son Robert was eighth in Australia in 1996 and sixth in the Olympics.
