Sebastian Bea

Sebastian Bea (born April 10, 1977 in San Francisco ) is a former rower from the United States , who was world champion in eighth in 1997 and runner-up in two-man without helmsman in 2000 .

Sebastian Bea started rowing in 1995. In 1997, the 1.98 m tall rower belonged to the American eighth at the World Championships on Lac d'Aiguebelette . Within a second, the eighth from the United States, Romania and Australia crossed the finish line in that order. The following year, Bea rowed to seventh place in the four without a helmsman at the 1998 World Championships . In 1999 in St. Catharines he took 13th place in a double without a helmsman.

At the World Cup regatta in Lucerne in July 2000, Bea took third place with eighth, in which Ted Murphy also sat. Bea and Murphy switched to helmless twos for the Sydney Olympics . After third places in the preliminary and semi-finals, the two won the silver medal in the final, just under a second behind the Frenchmen Michel Andrieux and Jean-Christophe Rolland .

Sebastian Bea is the son of Carlos Bea , who competed with the Cuban basketball team at the 1952 Olympic Games. In 1959, Carlos Bea became a citizen of the United States.
