Andrew Hedley Stevenson (born December 7, 1957 in Roxburgh , New Zealand ) is a former New Zealand rower who was eighth world champion in 1982 and 1983 .

Life

The 1.91 m tall Andrew Stevenson took seventh place with eighth at the 1981 World Championships . In 1982 he was a member of the New Zealand eight, which won the title in front of the boats from the GDR and the Soviet Union at the World Championships in Lucerne . The following year, the New Zealand eighth under coach Harry Mahon won the World Championships in Duisburg in front of the boats from the GDR and Australia. At the Olympic Games in 1984, the Canadians won ahead of the US eight, the New Zealanders finished fourth, seven tenths of a second behind the Australians. At the end of his career, Stevenson finished eighth in seventh place at the 1986 World Championships .

Andrew Stevenson's daughter Zoe Stevenson also won two world championship gold medals in rowing.
