Dirk Balster

Dirk Peter Balster (born July 19, 1966 in Gütersloh ) is a former German rower who was three times world champion with the eighth .

Balster won his first German championship title in 1987 in a four with helmsman . In 1988 he entered the German championships in eighth place and finished second. In 1989 and 1990 Balster won the championship title both in the four with helmsman and in the eight and in 1991 again in the eight. At the World Rowing Championships in 1989 , 1990 and 1991 Balster won the title with the Germany eighth .

In the 1992 Olympic year, Balster did not qualify for eighth. Together with Markus Vogt , Matthias Ungemach and Armin Weyrauch , Balster won the German championship title in the four without a helmsman . At the Olympic Games in 1992 , this four came fourth.

The 1.95 m tall Dirk Balster started during his active career for the rowing club Dorsten . In 1992 he ended his sporting career. After completing his business studies, he worked as a management consultant in Hamburg and in 2013 moved to the municipal clinics in Chemnitz as managing director.
