Ulrich Kons (born February 3, 1955 in Greifswald ) is a former rower from the GDR. In 1980 Kons was Olympic champion in eighth place .

The rower from ASK Vorwärts Rostock won the 1972 Spartakiade in a four-man with a helmsman . In 1973 he was junior world champion in double sculls . In 1977 Kons was world champion with the GDR eighth at the world championship in Amsterdam . In 1980 at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow , eighth in the line-up of Bernd Krauss , Hans-Peter Koppe , Ulrich Kons, Jörg Friedrich , Jens Doberschütz , Ulrich Karnatz , Uwe Dühring and batsman Bernd Höing with Klaus-Dieter Ludwig as helmsman with almost three Seconds ahead of the second-placed British. For this success he was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in silver. After the eighth only finished fourth at the 1981 World Championships in Munich, Kons switched to the four-man with helmsman in 1982 and won the title with this boat at the Lucerne World Championships .

In addition to his work at the Volksmarine, Kons studied and after his career was employed as a qualified sports teacher at ASK Rostock. After the turnaround and the dissolution of the army sports club, he worked as a pharmaceutical representative.
