Marcus McElhenney (born July 27, 1981 in Drexel Hill , Pennsylvania ) is a former American helmsman in rowing who was world champion in three different boat classes.

McElhenney drove the American eighth at the U23 world regatta in 2001. In 2003 he won his first title in the adult class in a four with a helmsman . The following year he won the bronze medal with the foursome. At the 2005 World Championships , McElhenney won two medals. After silver in the four, the 1.63 m tall helmsman received gold with the eight. After a bronze medal with the eighth at the 2006 World Championships , the eighth finished fourth at the 2007 World Championships . At the 2008 Olympic Games , the Canadian eighth won ahead of the British and the US eighth with McElhenney. At the end of his international career, McElhenney won gold in two with helmsman at the 2009 World Rowing Championships together with Troy Kepper and Henrik Rummel .

McElhenney works for Sparks Consulting , a company that advises junior rowers on where to study. He is a cousin of actor Rob McElhenney .
