Klaus-Günther Jordan

Klaus-Günter Jordan (born September 17, 1940 in Frankfurt-Höchst ; † December 7, 2011 ) was a German rower .

The 1.94 m tall locksmith and later technician Klaus-Günter Jordan, just called "Beppo" by his rowing friends, from the Nassovia Höchst rowing club won the 1961 title at the German rowing championships together with Wolfgang Neuss and helmsman Karl-Joachim Wolff in two with a helmsman . The following year Jordan and Neuss won together with their new helmsman Frank Steinhäuser . These three also won the title at the first rowing world championships , which were held in Lucerne in 1962. In addition, Jordan and Neuss won the famous Henley regatta as the first German team after the war in an uncontrolled two. In the following year Jordan, Neuss and Steinhäuser won both the German championships and the European rowing championships in 1963 .

In 1964 Jordan and Neuss separated. Jordan tried to qualify together with Günther Zumkeller for the all-German team at the Olympic Games in 1964 , which they did not succeed. Jordan was nominated as a substitute rower, but was not used. In 1966, Zumkeller and Jordan won the German championships together with helmsman Burkhard Zwosta . At the rowing world championships in 1966 they took sixth place.

For his athletic achievements, Jordan received the Silver Laurel Leaf on July 11, 1963 .
