Andreas Gregor (born April 27, 1955 in Dresden ) is a former helmsman in rowing . In 1980 Gregor and the team of the German Democratic Republic (GDR) became Olympic champion in a four-man team .

Life

Andreas Gregor trained at SC Einheit Dresden under Hans Eckstein . In 1977 he became the helmsman of the Dresden foursome with Ullrich Dießner , Gottfried Döhn , Walter Dießner and Dieter Wendisch , who won the world championship in 1977 and 1978 with this line-up. In 1979 only the Dießners could qualify for the world championship, but in 1980 the Dresden boat from 1977 and 1978 was together again and won the Olympic Games in Moscow, with a lead of four and a half seconds over the Soviet boat at the finish. For this success he was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in silver.

After a racing community from Potsdam and Magdeburg competed for the GDR in 1981 and also won the world championship, a crew with rowers from Dresden and Rostock competed in the world championship in 1982. Ulrich Kons , Hans Sennewald and Thomas Greiner sat next to Ullrich Dießner and Andreas Gregor in this boat that won the world championship title in 1982. In 1983 the three Dresdeners Ullrich Dießner, Thomas Greiner and Andreas Gregor formed a pair with a helmsman who immediately won the world title.

Andreas Gregor is a trained machining technician. After the fall of the Wall he worked as a boat builder and caretaker at the Olympic base in Dresden.
