Klaus Riekemann
Klaus Riekemann (born May 19, 1940 in Dorsten ) is a former rower from the Federal Republic of Germany, who became 1960 Olympic champion in a four-man with helmsman .
The rower from RC Germania Düsseldorf won the European Championships in 1958 and 1959 together with Hans-Joachim Berendes and Hans-Dieter Maier in two with a helmsman . In 1959 the crew also became German champions.
For the domestic German qualification for the Olympic Games in 1960 , he got into the foursome. With Gerd Cintl , Horst Effertz , Riekemann, Jürgen Litz and helmsman Michael Obst , the team from Düsseldorf was able to prevail and went to the games.
At the regatta on Lake Albano , the boat achieved the fastest time both in the lead and in the intermediate run. In the final, the team was able to prevail against the French boat and won gold.
In 1961 Riekemann was once again German champion in the four without a helmsman.
Riekemann received the Silver Laurel Leaf for his sporting achievements on October 8, 1960 .
