Adrian Ellison

Adrian Charles Ellison (born September 11, 1958 in Solihull ) is a former British helmsman in rowing and Olympic champion.

Career

Ellison began his international career at the 1981 World Championships when he drove the British two-man with helmsman with Thomas Cadoux-Hudson and Richard Budgett to the bronze medal. In the following year, the three rowers competed at the 1982 World Championships together with Geraint Fuller and Stephen King in a four with helmsman and took fifth place. In 1983 Ellison drove the British eighth , who finished eleventh at the World Championships . Together with Andrew Holmes , Ellison moved from eight to four in 1984. In the cast of Martin Cross , Richard Budgett, Andrew Holmes, Steven Redgrave and Adrian Ellison, the British won the gold medal at the 1984 Olympic Games in front of the US boat and the New Zealanders.

At the 1985 World Championships , Ellison finished seventh with the British eighth. In 1986 the English four-man with Martin Cross, Adam Clift , Andrew Holmes, Steven Redgrave and helmsman Ellison won the title at the Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh. The following year, Ellison was back in eighth, who finished ninth at the 1987 World Championships . In 1988 Ellison missed the Olympic Games in Seoul, at the 1988 World Championships he finished eighth with the lightweight eighth place. In 1989 he returned to the eighth heavyweight division and won the bronze medal at the 1989 World Championships . After a fourth place with the eighth at the 1990 World Championships and a fourth place with the four at the 1991 World Championships , Ellison entered the 1992 Olympic Games with the eighth; the British finished sixth in Barcelona. After finishing ninth with the foursome at the 1993 World Championships , Ellison ended his career.

The 1.60 m tall Adrian Ellison started for the Tyrian Boat Club and later for the Leander Club .
